The first induction and oath-taking ceremony for pharmacy graduates is kindly invited by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano. The ceremony is set to take place on the following dates:

Bayero University, Kano on Thursday, 16th January, 2020 inducted Sixty eight (68) new medical Doctors at the 19th Induction ceremony just five months after graduating thirty nine doctors.
The new doctors comprised forty seven (47) males and twenty one females (21) from the Faculty of Clinical Sciences.
In his remark, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, who was represented by the Director, Academic Planning, Professor Bala Sidi Aliyu, congratulated the new doctors for the laudable achievement. He called on them to exercise high ethical standard, competence and professionalism in dealing with human life.
The Vice Chancellor enjoined the doctors to abide by the code of ethics of the medical profession and desist from any act capable of jeopardizing them into legal tussle. He charged them to be ready to offer medical services to people irrespective of ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Administering the oath of allegiance on the new medical doctors, the Registrar, Medical Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Dr. T.A.B Sanusi, charged the inductees to exhibit a high level of doggedness, competence and confidentiality, as well as abide by the oath they took.
The Chief Medical Director of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Professor Abdulrahman A. Sheshe said after the induction, the new doctors would go for their internship, calling on them to always seek guidance from their senior colleagues.
The Medical Elder, Professor Mu’utasim Ibrahim challenged the graduates to consult medical library and visit the internet regularly in search of knowledge that will keep them abreast of the dynamics of health challenges.
Prof Mu’utasim also cautioned them to use communication skills effectively in dealing with their patients, saying that it would ease the way in addressing many health challenges and distancing them from being found wanting.
The Provost College of Health Science, Professor Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai, who was represented by Deputy Provost Academic, Professor Aliyu Abdu, congratulated the new doctors for reaching this milestone in their career. He commended their teachers and parents for their enormous sacrifice.
Dr. Sadik Faruk Haladu, who spoke on behalf of the new doctors commended the management of the university under the leadership of Vice Chancellor; the Provost College of Health Science, Dean, Faculty of Clinical Science, Prof Mahmoud Umar Sani and all staff for contributing significantly during their study. They also commended their parents for sponsoring them throughout their study.
Sa’adatu Abubakar Tanimu emerged as the overall best graduate.
Earlier: BUK Inducts 39 New Medical Doctors, 14 Dental Surgeons
Bayero University, Kano on Monday, July 15, 2019 inducted thirty nine new Medical Doctors (MBBS) and fourteen Dental Surgeons (BDS) graduates from the Faculties of Clinical Sciences and Dentistry. It was the 18th induction for MBBS and 4th for Bachelor of Dental Surgery by the University.
The newly qualified doctors, who were sworn-in by the Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Dr. T.A.B Sanusi, took the physicians’ oath and solemnly declared to exercise the several parts of their profession to the best of their ability for the good, safety and welfare of all persons committing themselves to their care or attention.
They pledged to faithfully obey the rules and regulations of Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and all other laws that are made for the control of the medical and dental professions in Nigeria. The new Doctors also pledged to maintain the utmost respect for human life and consecrate their lives to the service of humanity.
While administering the oath, the Registrar, MDCN told the celebrants that they would be responsible for their actions and inactions, warning them to be careful because anything that constitutes danger to human health may jeopardize them into legal problem or get themselves suspended.
Welcoming the new Doctors into the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), the Chairman of Kano branch, Dr. Sunusi Bala, said the association has over 1400 members whose interests and welfare are being highly taken care of.
In his congratulatory speech, the Head of Civil Service, Kano State, Dr Kabiru Shehu, reaffirmed the commitment of Kano State Government in supporting medical education by improving students’ welfare and commencing undergraduate medical training at the two state universities.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Professor Adamu Idris Tanko, said BUK Medical Program is one of the best in Nigeria, adding that the University is currently collaborating with some of the top universities in the world in order to work together to strengthen its programme. “This will really help us to realize our ambition of becoming one of the best in the world,” he added.
The Chief Medical Director of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Professor Aminu Zakari Mohammed, Medical Elder, Professor S.O Jeboda and Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Professor Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai, who was represented by Professor Aliyu Abdu, congratulated the graduands for achieving this significant milestone and urged them to abide by the ethical provisions of their noble profession.
Speaking on behalf of the graduands, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Abdullahi (BDS) and Dr. Abdulhakeem Shu’aibu (MBBS) commended the management of BUK and College of Health Sciences for providing all the necessary facilities the graduands required for their training. They also showered commendable encomiums on their teachers and parents for supporting them throughout their study.
Fatima Ahmed Maigari emerged as the overall best graduand of Bachelor of Dental Surgery having clinched the prizes for the best graduate in Oral Diagnostic Sciences, Child Dental Health and Restorative Dentistry.
On his part, the Sub-Dean, Academics of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Dr. Idris Mohammed, expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the induction ceremony.
