According to the statement, a 75-year-old grandmother named Mrs. Sekinat Soremekun was detained by NDLEA agents in Lagos on Friday, December 15, for dealing in illegal substances. She had litres of codeine syrup and large amounts of weed on her when she was apprehended in the Oshodi neighborhood of Lagos. She stated that the illegal drugs she sold were provided to her by her now-at-large son, Segun.

Babafemi also cited Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), as pleading with the agency’s officers to step up their offensive action against drug cartels as the holiday season draws near while keeping a balanced approach to their efforts to reduce drug demand.
