The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), led by President Joe Ajaero, has urged President Bola Tinubu and other political figures to use the holiday season to enact “creative measures” meant to lessen the current “humongous suffering” of Nigerians. The message was titled “AT CHRISTMAS: MAY OUR HOPE BE IN CHRIST.” “Nigerians expect from government actions with solid results, not handouts,” the statement reads, emphasizing the need for real, measurable initiatives with results. Ajaero exhorts leaders to take actions that will have a long-lasting effect rather than just token gestures. Ajaero urges Nigerians to “transcend our differences” and find inspiration in the teachings of Jesus Christ in order to promote togetherness during this festive season. Declaring, “Nations are built when the people decide to stand together and work in unity and in love,” he emphasizes the significance of self-love and togetherness as essential for constructing a stronger nation. Additionally, “unpatriotic elements” who have “hijacked our levers of governance” and disregarded the needs of the populace are criticized in the speech. In order to create a “new nation” free from injustice and underdevelopment, Ajaero exhorts Nigerians to band together. The NLC sends a message to government leaders, imploring them to let the spirit of Christmas influence their policies and activities, all the while bringing hope to people who are suffering. Ajaero draws inspiration from Jesus’ example of selfless service to emphasize the need of selfless service. The NLC advocated for innovative ways to alleviate the hardship that people are currently experiencing rather than placing “heavy burdens” on them. The message said, “The people are asking for the creation of effective platforms to enable them to unleash their robust energies for wealth creation.” “As the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) extends its warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas full of love, joy, and the coziness of family and friends, we implore you to keep in mind that there is hope in our collective action. Therefore, let us strive, by all means necessary, to come together and reach out across the divides—North, South, East, and West! It’s our country! We can construct it! “The Nigeria Labour Congress sends warm wishes and greetings to everyone on this wonderful Christmas celebration, especially our Christian brothers and sisters. “We find comfort and strength in the enduring spirit of hope, love, and the teachings of Jesus Christ in a year filled with difficulties and uncertainties. It is critical that we maintain the hope that, by banding together, we will overcome all of our obstacles, no matter how great they may be. I pray the Christmas spirit fills you with tranquility and gives you new hope for the next year.
