In an effort to beat the Guinness World Record, Enitan Subair, a student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State, started a 50-hour hand wash-a-thon on Friday.
After informing the GWR of her intentions in June 2023, she was given the go-ahead to start her effort on November 24.
Enitan, a 200-level Linguistics and African Languages student, expressed confidence in winning the title for the longest continuous hand-washing, with the support of the student union at the university.
The Student Union President, Abbas Akinremi-Ojo, gave her the assurance that all the support she would need to succeed in the challenge had been prepared, including an ambulance, lights, and other logistical arrangements.
Professor John Odedire, the Dean of Students Affairs, spoke on behalf of the school administration and reaffirmed the commitment of the organization to offer Enitan all the assistance needed to secure the record.
